The Palestinian lossess in Operation Protective Edge are still growing, despite the ceasefire. Many bodies have been found under the rubbles and families and volonteers are still searching for missing people. The lack of means to attend to the wounded is also a source of concern.  
So far, the death toll is of 1.940 dead. 9.886 injured.
Apesar do cessar-fogo, o número de palestinos mortos na Operação israelense Protective Edge continua aumentando. Muitos corpos foram encontrados sob os escombros e famílias e voluntários continuam procurando desaparecidos nas ruínas de dezenas de prédios destruídos pelos mísseis de norte a sul da Faixa de Gaza. Outro fato preocupante é a carência de meios de tratar dos feridos graves. Muitos exigem cuidados que os hospitais que sobreviveram aos ataques estão incapacitados de proporcionar.
Até agora o número de mortos é de 1.940 e de feridos 9.886.

Archbishop Desmond Tutu reiterated his appeal to corporations profiting from Israel's occupation of Palestinian Territories to pull out their funding.

As I said previously, the campaign targets companies including Hewlett Packard, G4S, Caterpillar, Motorola, ABP, Veolia and others that are either directly or indirectly financing activities in the occupied territories that serve Israeli settlements which are illegal under international law.
Desmond Tutu said and say again: "The withdrawal of trade with South Africa by multinational corporations with a conscience in the 1980s ultimately brought the apartheid state - bloodlessly - to its knees.
Those corporations understood that by contributing to South Africa's economy, they were contributing to the repression of black South Africans.
So they cut off apartheid's oxygen supply. Where the world's political and diplomatic leaders had failed, civil society succeeded.
The crisis we are witnessing in Gaza, in Palestine, today is not a Jewish or a Muslim crisis. It is a human crisis.
Those who continue to do business with Israel fund the perpetuation of a profoundly unjust status quo.
Those who withdraw their business and stop buying Israeli goods are saying Israelis and Palestinians are equally entitled to dignity and peace. Gaza is going to test who believes in the worth of human beings."

The call for divestment comes after several public pull-outs in recent months.
We, as individuals, can easily boycott these companies and Israeli goods in general checking the labels at the Supermarket - 7 29... and  8 71... - using the application below to check the "faked" labels, and if there's no label, asking the origin of fruits and food in general before buying them.

O arcebispo sul-africano Desmond Tutu que contribuiu ativamente para o fim do apartheid talvez mais do que Nelson Mandela, reiterou seu apelo para que as companhias Hewlett Packard, G4S, Caterpillar, Motorola, ABP e Veolia, direta ou indiretamente envolvidas no financiamento das colônias/invasões civis na Cisjordânia  - proibidas pelas leis internacionais - parem de financiá-las.
Desmon Tutu pediu que repetíssemos suas palavras: "A suspensão do comércio das multinacionais com a África do Sul acabou derrbuando o Apartheid. Elas cortaram o oxigêncio do apartheid. Onde a política e a diplomacia interancional falharam, a sociedade civil foi vitoriosa.
A crise que estamos testemunhando em Gaza, na Palestina, hoje não é entre muçulmanos e judeus. É uma crise humana.
Quem continuar a financiar Israel continuará a perpetuar um status quo injusto.
Quem parar de negociar e de comprar produtos israelenses vai estar dizendo que israelenses e palestinos têm os mesmos direitos à dignidade e à paz. Gaza vai testar auem acredita no valor do ser humano".
Nós também, como indivíduos, podemos fazer nossa parte boicotando os produtos destas empresas e de outras. É só conferirmos o código barra no supermercado.
Quando começam com - 7 29...  e  8 71... - ficam na prateleira!
Quando o produto não tiver etiqueta, é só perguntar para o vendedor sua procedência. Saber a origem do produto que se compra é um direito do consumidor. De boicotar também.

written and sung by Leon Rosselson, British writer of songs and  children's book. Leon wrote this song as Israel's bombardment of Gaza slaughtered more than 1.500 civilians, among them more than 443 children, so far.

I was watching the news from Gaza

And I fell asleep on my chair

And when I awoke from my slumber

A young girl was standing there.

She said, My name is Rivka

They killed me because I'm a Jew

I died in the ghetto of Vilna

In nineteen forty two.

The ghetto was like a prison

They wouldn't allow us to leave

Some said they were going to kill us all

We didn't know what to believe.

That day I wore my new red dress

My bubbe had made for me

And in that crowded ghetto

It made me feel proud and free.

I looked up at the soldier

I looked him in the eye

I forgot to bow my head down

And so I had to die.

He smashed my head with his rifle

Because I was too bold

I was killed in the Vilna ghetto

When I was seven years old.

And then out of the darkness

A young boy's gaze met mine

He said, My name is Mohammed

My country is Palestine.

I've lived all my life in Gaza

And the only time I feel free

Is when I go down to the harbour

And feel the wind from the sea.

That day I went with my cousins

We ran down to the beach to play

Then the soldier fired a shell at me

And blew my life away.

They want to crush our spirits

They want us to be afraid

Locked up in the prison of Gaza

The prison that they have made.

To them our lives don't matter

They force us to live in a cage

I was killed on the beach in Gaza

At eleven years of age.

They don't think that we deserve freedom

Or belong to the human race.

Mohammed, my brother, said Rivka,

This world is a cold, cold place.

Mohammed, my friend, my brother,

Let us leave this world of war.

Then each took the hand of the other

And then they were seen no more.

But I saw spokesmen and politicians

Lining up to speechify

And every word was a hypocrite

And every word was a lie.

I saw children still being slaughtered

The monster must have its fill

While the people with power sat on their hands 

And supplied the weapons that kill.

I weep for the people of Gaza

And they are weeping still

And I curse the ones who do nothing

And enable the monster to kill.
